Achilles Tendonitis

Achilles tendonitis is a painful condition wherein the back of the foot (Achilles tendon located just above the heel) becomes swollen or irritated due to overuse. This foot condition is a very common running injury, meaning, it can also affect those who are into sports or those people who put a lot of repeated stress on their feet.

What Are The Symptoms Of Achilles Tendonitis?

  • Pain in the heel
  • Pain along the length of the tendon while walking or running
  • Stiffness in the affected area
  • The area may be swollen and warm

What Causes Achilles Tendonitis?

  • Poor foot posture

Initial treatments for Achilles tendonitis include:

  • Try putting ice on the Achilles tendon area for 15 to 20 minutes
  • Depending on the severity of the injury, the poditrist may recommend full or partial rest
  • Change of footwear
